Marx Barbecue was founded in 1955 by brothers Roy and Elmer Marx. What started as an offshoot of the George Marx Saloon and General Store -- a Westside institution for over 100 years -- has become Evansville's go-to for authentic smoked meats and catering.
Our recipes have been passed down through three generations, and we still use the same original sauces that are in such high demand we bottle and sell them at the restaurant. Located right behind The Hilltop Inn on West Maryland Street, we've been Evansville's picnic headquarters for decades.
